Dilly beans lovedate!

Writer: Farm MamaFarm Mama

I've wanted to try Dilly beans for awhile now. We snacked on a gift jar of them this spring ( garden love is my favorite ) They were so snappy and tasty!

So when my family vacationed without me this year to give me some much needed refresh time , I wanted to do nothing ( especially zero cleaning ) .. and dilly beans. 💛

We used 2 1/2 cups vinegar

3 cups water

2 1/2 pounds of beans, ends snapped to 1/4 inch lower then jar ( which of course we didn't do properly ;)

Wayy more garlic then needed

Sprinkled on some pickling spice..

Head of fresh Dill + fuzzy bits for each jar .. Easy peasy!

Rolling boil the water vinegar and garlic, ladle into warmed jars filled with the beans , dill and spices. 10 minute simmer in big pot (jars covered to 1/2 past their lids)

Room temperature cool down and 3-4 weeks fermentation 💚

Quick math suggests it would cost about 4 dollars per jar if starting from scratch, buying the jars and all the farm market goodies for inside them. I had to buy the vinegar and the dill, where I hadn't planted dill this year. Next year goals ✨
